Maple Leafs place forward Ben Smith on IR, recall Byron Froese

The Maple Leafs have placed Ben Smith on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. In a corresponding move, Byron Froese has been recalled from AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies.
